canvas background tutorial

In previous blog post I promised to show you how I have made a background for this canvas.

So here it is – a little step-by-step tutorial. Firstly I covered the blank, white, primed canvas with a PanPastel – 430.8 Magenta Tint. I have used a PanPastel dedicated sponge, which is very soft and perfect for using with PanPastels.

Then I took Heavy Gel Medium Gloss, Tim Holtz Tissue Paper and Crystal Mortar paste.
I torn some tissue paper pieces and glued it down using Gel Medium. I covered than some areas using Crystal Mortar paste.
When everything has dried, I took Primary Elements from Luminarte and mixed them with Gel Medium. Colors are Pear Blossom, Royal Satin and Peppermint Taffy.
Using stencils I applied colorful Gel Medium (clear gel medium mixed with each color of Primary Elements separately).
I decided to tone down the colors and applied very thin layer of gesso on some areas. The final effect could be visible here:
And that’s it. All I have done later, was adding embellies and spraying a little bit with pink shades of Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays.

Thank you for visiting me đŸ™‚
Have a good day,
